Fort William is situated on the West Coast of Scotland and nestles at the foot of Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain which has an altitude of 4,406 ft. 

Whether you wish to have a relaxing holiday or wish to participate in more energetic activities Fort William is a perfect all year round holiday destination.

Fort William has recently been named as the "Outdoor Capital of the UK" and hosts numerous activities and events.  In May the town hosts the Scottish 6 Day Motor Bike Trials.  The event takes place all over the Lochaber area and brings much excitement to the town.  The Downhill Mountain Bike Championships is another event which is hosted in the area - on the Nevis Range. 

There are many other outdoor activities to enjoy.  Sailing; skiing; canoeing; climbing (practice your skills before you go out onto the hills at the climbing walls at Fort William leisure centre or at the Ice Factory in Kinlochleven); walking; horse riding; fishing; golf - the outdoor pursuits available in the local area are numerous.

Don't worry if you are not feeling energetic there is still much to do and see.....

The scenery in Lochaber is second to none and Fort William is an ideal touring base for day trips to Inverness; Mallaig; the Isle of Skye; Oban; Aviemore; Newtonmore; the Ardnamurchan Peninsula........  A trip on the Gondola at Aonach Mhor is highly recommended as the views on a clear day are spectacular.  A day out on the steam train to Mallaig (crossing the Glenfinnan viaduct where scenes of the Harry Potter film were shot).   A boat trip out onto Loch Linnhe on board the "Souters Lass".  Visit the Treasures of the Earth and see a spectacular array of gemstones, and why not finish the day off with a visit to our local whisky distillery and have a wee taste of the "Dew of Ben Nevis".

In the evening there are numerous bars and restaurants, where you can sit down, unwind and recollect your thoughts of the day.

Whatever you decide to do on your holiday you will return home with many fond memories of Fort William and Lochaber.
